TyneHealth - who are they?

TyneHealth Clinical Commissioning Group are a group of practices serving the north and east of the city of Newcastle covering a population of around 155,000 people. The government wants local GP practices to set up clinical commissioning groups (previously known as GP consortia) and take over the role being done by primary care trusts as it believes that GPs are closer to patients and are better able to talk to you about the health services you need. In the future clinical commissioning groups like TyneHealth will be responsible for making sure that the right local health services are available to meet the needs of our patients. We will be working with Newcastle City Council, the community and voluntary sector and you to ensure health services are available to meet the needs of local people. We will also continue to work closely with Newcastle Primary Care Trust to gradually take on the responsibilities In taking on these new duties we will be practical, work as a team and be driven by the needs of our patients to make sure that the best possible healthcare is available for the people of Newcastle.

Who’s involved?

There are 17 GP practices in the TyneHealth Clinical Commissioning Group:

Involving patients in developing health services

Providing the right services for the local population is very important and we need the help of patients and the public to do this.

We are keen to hear your views on healthcare in Newcastle and to work with you to make healthcare services more responsive to patient needs.

Each GP practice will form a patient and public involvement group which will make sure that views are considered. If you would like to take part in your practice group please contact reception for details. Many thanks.
