------------------------------ Appointment Attendance

In the month of November 245 patients did not attend their appointment at the surgery. This many missed appointments amounts to over 40 hours of wasted time. Please remember to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it to the surgery, this allows the reception staff to re-book your appointment so somebody else can be seen.

--------------------------------- Cervical Screening

Ladies please check with reception if your smear is due. Every year in the UK, over 3000 women will be diagnosed with cervical  cancer and almost 1000 women will die from the disease.

-------------------------------- Rotavirus Vaccine

Rotavirus a new childhood vaccine for babies will be introduced to the national immunisation programme from July. It will be given by mouth at 2 and 3 months of age when attending for other routine vaccines. It will help protect against gastroenteritis which can lead to diarrhoea, vomiting and dehydration. For further information ask at reception for a leaflet or speak to the health visitor or practice nurse.






-------------------------------- Shingles Vaccine

If you are aged 70, 78 or 79 please make an appointment with the practice nurse for your shingles vaccine. vaccination6


----------------------------------- Going to university?

If you are between the age of 18 - 24 please check with reception that you have had two doses of MMR before going to university.

-------------------------------- Watch out measles about!

Measles is a highly infectious viral illness. It can be very unpleasant and possibly lead to serious complications, including blindness and even death. We recommend that everyone over 12 months of age has the MMR vaccine. it is never too late to receive it. If you are not sure whether you or your children need the MMR vaccine please talk to your doctor, nurse or health visitor.

If you are registered with the practice you can now book your appointments online by popping into the surgery and asking for a application form for Online Access to Appointments.
Once you have your application form go online to register at   it's as simple as that.
This online facility enables you to book and cancel appointments online, order your repeat prescriptions and up date your contact information.

What to do when the practice is closed: 

  • If it is a life-threatening emergency call 999
  • if you need medical help but it is not an emergency call 111   

NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it is not a life threatening emergency. Calls to NHS 111 are FREE from landlines and mobiles - it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.  

When to call 111

  • you think you need to go to A&E or to another NHS urgent care service
  • your GP surgery is closed and you need healthcare advice                                                                         
  • you dont know who to call for medical advice  
When to call 999
  • Major accident or trauma
  • Severe Breathlessness       
  • Severe bleeding
  • Loss of conciousness
  • Severe chest Pain

    The little Orange book contains advice and tips on how to manage common illness and problems that babies and young children often experience in the first five years of their lives. it also has information of more serious conditions what to look out for and how to get help.
